Eldest Isn't Happy

Updated: Aug 31, 2021

In our latest episode, we discuss Across the Universe by Beth Revis, and Eldest isn't happy about it. This is the first book in an excellent sci-fi space trilogy, which is something Claire and I love.

In the first book, Amy, her parents, and nearly a hundred other scientists and military personnel are cryogenically frozen to travel across the universe for three hundred years. When they wake up, they'll be on Centauri-Earth, a new planet and their new home.

But that's not what happens.

Amy wakes up part way through her journey, or should I say she is woken up... Someone unfreezes her and now she has to live amongst those on the ship. That's right. There are thousands of people living and working on the ship, but they don't look a thing like Amy, and they're nothing like the people she left behind on earth.

Elder is the next leader of the inhabitants of Godspeed, the ship carrying Amy and the rest of the crew. Only a few people know the ship is carrying frozen cargo, but when things start to go wrong, Elder learns from Eldest that things aren't exactly going according to plan on Godspeed. And then of course Amy wakes up and... Eldest isn't happy. Listen to the episode, read the book or check out our summary to find out exactly what happens in the first book of this trilogy!

Here's a recording picture where we're probably cracking up about the amount of times we say that Eldest isn't happy.

Be sure to check back next week for book two in the trilogy and the following week for book three, plus a chat with the author!!

Until then,

Amanda
