That was a good distraction from the fact that I'm sad about no longer discussing Harry Potter, right? RIGHT?!
In all seriousness, this is a fun series to read and discuss. It's interesting that things tie in and make sense today even though this book came out in 2005. And it gives you a lot of things to think about. What would you do if you were in Tally's shoes? She's about to turn 16 in the first book and when you reach that age in this futuristic version of our own world, you get radical plastic surgery that changes you from an Ugly to a Pretty. (Unless of course you run away from society and live in the wilderness.) When you become a Pretty, all you have to do all day is have fun and go to parties. But that seems a little... vapid, right? Well, being Pretty might not be all it's made out to be.
So what would you do? Would you stay Ugly (and keep in mind... Ugly in this world really is just you as a regular normal person. You're not grotesque or anything.) or would you become Pretty?
Something to think about! Read the series and think about what you would do.
