In our latest episode we discuss My Plain Jane written by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton and Jodi Meadows. We also have a bonus episode this week featuring a game of Would You Rather and an interview with the Lady Janies themselves! SO MUCH FUN!
The book is a retelling(ish) of Jane Eyre but with ghosts! Jane Eyre, Charlotte Brontë and Alexander Blackwood take part in an epic ghost hunt that includes bashing ghosts over the head with teacups, the trio solving multiple murders, and "Jane" getting married to Mr. Rochester (yes, the quotes are important). The rest of the Brontës are also involved, and a ghost by the name of Helen who really steals the show. You should definitely read this one, or just listen to the episode. That counts, too.
In our bonus episode, we play Would You Rather with the authors and learn some writing tips, one of which definitely shouldn't be repeated in pleasant company. We also learn about a potential Jane book that never came to pass, and it's probably a good thing that it didn't, but it led to some interesting conversation about recipes. It might make you think twice about having a nice bowl of chili.
