In this episode, we're wrapping up our discussion of The Selection trilogy and talking about The Elite and The One by Kiera Cass. Normally, I find background info to begin each episode (which you should all know because you're listening to the episodes, right?), but this time I got distracted by this AWESOME VIDEO. The Selection with Dolls! It's hilarious, and that's where the blog post title comes from. As you know from the series, America is often confused about her feelings for Maxon and Aspen and she says, "My heart is confused," over and over again in that video and it's so terrible and so funny, so we said it over and over again in our episode. You can also watch The Elite and The One with Dolls, and several other of Kiera Cass's books and tons of other great things on the Epic Reads YouTube channel.
We decided that The Elite was pretty much unnecessary to the trilogy, and we also decided that the trilogy could easily have been a duology or even just one big book, but all in all, we enjoyed the original series, even though we pretty much hated America and Aspen the entire time. We had a better ending lined up for the series and talked about it quite a bit in the episode, so you should really check it out.
Here's an image from our recording this week:
I'm pretty sure we were talking about how much we dislike something that America or Aspen said or did, which takes up about 25% of our episode this week if not more.
I'm cutting this post short because seriously, you need to go watch all those videos of this series made with dolls.
(Oh hey, did you know that you can read our summaries now? They're pretty much word for word what we say during the summary part of each episode and are very spoilery, but you can do it. There's an entire page of the website dedicated to summaries. More and more from the back catalog are being added all the time and hopefully one day I'll be able to make them searchable. Go check them out!)
