In this week's episode, Lady Claire of Qualitaaaayyyy and I, Professor Amanda of Qualitaaaayyyy, continue our discussion of the Finishing School series by Gail Carriger and talk about Curtsies and Conspiracies.
Sophronia has received top marks in her espionage training and so her friends, Dimity, Sidheag and Agatha, turn against her. Is it jealousy or something more causing this spurning? Sophronia has her suspicions, but she's got suspicions about other things, too, mostly that someone is trying to kidnap Dimity! Even though they're not talking, she can't just let her friend get captured, so she reaches out to her other friends, those who are not her classmates, Vieve and Soap, for help. Unfortunately, other things are going on at Mademoiselle Geraldine's Academy for Young Ladies of Quality and Sophronia has to figure those things out too, namely what's going on with their resident Vampire, Professor Braithwope, and what he's got to do with an upcoming presentation on aether travel. Just as she's getting everything figured out, whomever is after Dimity finally gets her and Sophronia has to save the day.
