Magic and Whimsy

In this episode, we talk about The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern, audiobook narrated by Jim Dale. This book is beautiful and full of magic and whimsy, hence the title of this post, and we loved it. This is also the END OF SEASON TWO OF THE PODCAST! That really doesn't mean anything for you, but it's a big deal for us, especially me as it's TWO YEARS OF PODCASTING AND EDITING UNDER MY BELT. That's got to mean something, right? Oh well, not what you're here for. Maybe I'll make a post about that? Who knows...

Back to the book... I was so shocked because Claire hadn't read it before we decided to discuss it on the show. It's been out since 2011 and so many people have read it. She's even had a copy on her bookshelf since then and nope, never picked it up. I had. I read it shortly after it came out. And I have a copy from way back then, too, although I lent it to my mother and she never returned it. It still exists and maybe I'll get it back one day... Hopefully...

Anyway, this book is about magic and whimsy, as I said earlier. It's covers a decent span of time and is about two magicians in competition with each other. They've each been trained under master magicians since they were children, and when the time comes, their game begins and takes place at a circus that is only open at night (ahem, The Night Circus). Their magic creates the tents in the circus, each one more fantastical than the last. But who will win the game? Can there even be a winner? How would you even decide that?! And what happens when they fall in love?!! Read or listen to find out!

Here's a picture of us recording. (Yes, we dressed up for our audio-only podcast. Remember, I used to do it to even greater extremes!) The circus is beautiful in black and white, and followers of the circus, called Rêveurs, dress in black and white with a splash of red so they can spot each other in the crowds. We decided we'd become Rêveurs, too. Here's a picture of us talking about something completely unrelated to the book. We're pretty cute, don't you think?

On to SEASON THREE!!!
