Demon Vs. Grotesque

In our episode this week, Claire and I talk about White Hot Kiss by Jennifer L. Armentrout. We started a new theme this month about Angels and Demons and this book features both, plus Gargoyles! Except... the gargoyles are actually grotesques. (If you didn't know, a gargoyle is a decorative statue that directs water away from a rooftop and a grotesque is a decorate statue minus the water. There, now you know something new.) Ignoring that detail, this book was oh so sexy and had a lovable asshole who is also a demon, so you know we enjoyed it at least a little bit.

Layla is half demon-half gargoyle and has been raised by a clan of Wardens, aka full gargoyles, who protect the city from demons. She works for them by marking demons she finds out on the streets after school because, guess what, Layla can see souls and demons don't have them. Shortly after Layla's 17th birthday, lots of upper level demons appear and they seem to be coming after her for some unknown reason, including one super hot demon who might be protecting her from something worse that's on the horizon. What's going on, what do the Wardens know about it and why is Layla smack dab in the middle? Read the book, check out our summary and listen to our episode for all the super sexy details!

Until later,
