In this episode, our 52nd btw, Amber and I discuss Darkdawn by Jay Kristoff. You should read it or listen to the episode to see if Mia finally gets her revenge, gentle friends. This book brings this spectacular series to a thrilling end. You really should read it.
More importantly though...
This episode completes one year of podcasting. Can you believe it? One entire year of Fictional Hangover. One entire year of book summaries and too much laughing and mispronounced words and popular characters and favorite quotes and life lessons and so, so many memories.
This episode also is the end of an era. Amber has decided to leave the show to work on some personal things. I am heartbroken, but also excited to see what happens next in her life. Fictional Hangover was our baby, but now I have full custody. She has visitation rights, though, if we're making this out to be a divorce, meaning she might come back for an episode or two down the line. Holiday visits? I don't know how to continue the divorce and custody metaphor, so I'm going to stop talking about it... now!
I'm trying to make light of the situation, but I really am sad that she's not going to continue the show with me. It really was the highlight of my week to sit in my recording studio (aka closet) talking to her about books. I hope she realizes she will be missed.
Well, here's our last recording picture. Don't worry, I didn't post one where we're both sad.
Let's wrap this up with a quote from Darkdawn.
“ ... to burn in the memories of our friends is to never say goodbye.”
Amanda
