In this episode of the show, we discussed The Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee. It's a very charming book featuring the rapscallious (yes, I just made that word up) adventures of a wealthy aristocratic boy who got expelled from Eton for having rapscallious adventures with other wealthy aristocratic boys. That's right. Now Henry "Monty" Montague is embarking on a Grand Tour with his best friend, Percy, who he may or may not be in love with, and his younger sister, Felicity.
On their tour, they (and by they, I mean Monty) steal some stuff and have drunken, naked escapades, which gets them into quite a bit of trouble with a Duke. They get attacked by highwaymen and kidnapped by pirates along the way, all Monty's fault, of course, but he somehow always gets away with everything unscathed. Well, not really. He is scathed sometimes. (I'm making up words left and right in this post!) Eventually though, Monty realizes he's not quite the gentleman he should be so he gets his act together and everything works out more or less in the end.
Dressing up for this episode was a little odd for me because I dressed as Monty and, well, I'm not a gentleman. I have crossplayed (cosplaying as a male when you are female, or the other way around) before, but those costumes involved beards, which concealed my not-very-manly face. Monty doesn't have a beard though. Whatever, I did the best I could. Enjoy this recording picture! Seems like Amber was enjoying whatever was happening in this snapshot, so that's good.
Handsomely yours,
Amanda
