GISH

GISH? What the hell is that? I’m glad you asked! GISH is the Greatest International Scavenger Hunt and it is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year! I’ve been GISHing for several years and started way back when it was GISHWHES, the Greatest International Scavenger Hunt the World Has Ever Seen, but what does this mean though? What’s the point? What even is this thing? In years past when I would explain it to people that would look at me funny on the street whilst I was dressed as an assbutt or having been painted to blend in with a wall, I would explain to them that GISH is a week-long charity scavenger hunt put on by Misha Collins of Supernatural. Then I would ask, “Do you watch Supernatural?” and then we’d start talking about that and everyone would forget about why they were talking to a donkey face because they love Supernatural so much.

So why is Fictional Hangover participating in GISH? Because I, Amanda, asked Claire to join me, and she did, and we are Fictional Hangover. It was only us on the team for a little while, so we thought, why not make this a Fictional Hangover themed team and invite listeners to play along with us? So we did! And we actually got a few listeners to join us! Sure, maybe most of them are our significant others or siblings or friends, but that’s part of what makes it special. Getting together with friends and family (living across the country or even in different countries) is a something we all need right now. Though we’re all apart, we can still do ridiculous things together over the internet. Some of our teammates are friends of friends, and through this week of toil and shenanigans, we’ve become friends too. I started this team with seven of my friends and I am ending it with fifteen of them. It really is wonderful, and it’s all because of Misha and Supernatural.

Please enjoy these few old photos of me from past years. We’re not allowed to share new stuff until the hunt is over, so these old things will have to suffice. Doesn't this look like so much fun and don't you want to play next year? Of course you do! Go here to learn more about GISH and how you can join in because you know you want to. There may be much unreasonable pain and suffering throughout the week including hot glued fingers, weird tattoos and, only this year, a chainsaw accident, but really, it’s all worth it in the end.

Ridiculous, yes, but what can I say? It seemed like a good idea at the time.

Amanda
